CAVE's mission is to provide Chico State students with meaningful volunteer opportunities, to develop student leaders, and to service a broad base of community needs. Our philosophy is that the community should be a classroom for hands-on learning, and our motto is "Life is for Learning." - Testimonials
Established in 1966, our student-led programs serve primary and secondary age children, senior citizens, animal shelter, low-income residence, the environment, young adults, and weekend immersion trips to State parks and institutions through Northern California. Annually, more than 2,000 students provide 60,000 plus hours of community service through CAVE!

A CAVE volunteer or service learning experience gives students a chance to:

  • Make new friends
  • Explore career and personal interests
  • Develop job skills
  • Increase self-confidence
  • Enrich your education
  • Make a difference for others and in the community
