Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering for AS Recycling is a great way to see how waste on our campus is collected and diverted from landfills. There is a wide variety of volunteer opportunities from riding in a recycling truck to sorting materials to gardening; we'll help you find the best one for you! Every volunteer needs to fill out a volunteer waiver form, please stop by our office (BMU 301) to fill one out.
Waste Audit - In order to figure out how to divert more waste, we need to know what kind of waste we have. Every year AS Recycling sponsors a waste audit where volunteers sort each type of material that is thrown away on campus. Gloves and safety goggles are provided.

Warehouse Sorting - Materials collected on campus by AS Recycling need to be sorted in the warehouse. Warehouse sorting is a great opportunity for those who are curious about warehouse operations. Gloves and safety goggles are provided.
Contact the office (898-5033) if you would like to volunteer at the warehouse. The warehouse is located on the corner of 4th and Cherry Streets.
Recycling Shift Ride-Along - Do you ever wonder what those students in the green shirts are actually doing? Find out by participating in a ride along. Ride along with the AS Recycling staff for a shift and see the process of picking up recycling on campus. Safety gear will be provided as needed; closed toed shoes are a must. There are a limited number of ride-alongs, so contact us today!

CDA Garden Volunteering - The Compost Display Area (CDA) uses compost to grow a small garden. Volunteers help to keep the garden alive and thriving. By volunteering in the garden, you can learn about different composting methods, gardening tips & tricks, and you can even take some veggies home with you. Closed toed shoes are recommended, gloves will be provided.
